Wetland ghosts and architectures of nonhuman hospitality
ARTWORK/ EXHIBITION
Soft Fascination is a series of sculptural works that speak to Berlin’s swampy history and multispecies present, created with Jesper Dyrehauge for Olafur Eliasson’s Festival of Future Nows 2025, exhibited at the Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin.
Cylindrical forms lean against the museum’s windows to interrupt the space’s grid-like geometry, incorporating sticks and wild grasses gathered from Berlin’s urban river ecosystems - life that persists outside design. On the terrace outside, shallow basins recall the swamps on which the city is built; each bridged by a stick that provides safe passage for visiting creatures; a minor gesture of hospitality to our nonhuman neighbours.
